The Joy of Eating Again–Dental Implants and Food

Wow–we just finished an dental implant case with a nurse patient from Wheaton.  Her #1 remark on her follow-up visit was on how much enjoyable eating was again.  Her exact wordsapplebiting3 were “Eating with dentures was just about as good as driving a car with blinders on!”  She went on saying how she could taste better, feel the texture and thermal sensations of the food, and she did’t have the food betting caught “all over the place.”  Foods that were previously forbidden such as steak and apples had quickly become a joy to eat again.

You will be able to taste foods more fully. Wearing an upper denture can prevent someone from really tasting food, as the roof of the mouth is covered. With implant supported replacement teeth, it is not necessary to cover the roof of the mouth, so it is possible to enjoy the taste of foods.
Did you ever try tasting food with your sense of smell altered?  Tasting food without being not being able to feel the texture or temperature with half the mouth “covered with plastic” is just as futile.  Better again whe remarked aboutno more “goopy denture junk”,   or day-old food caught under the plastic tastes like!
